Podcasts For Children!

This post is coming out of a strange time. Many people’s routines have been disrupted due to COVID-19. This will naturally cause a lot of problems (not to mention tragedies), but I’m also convinced that good things can arise from the chaos. One of these things is the opportunity to spend more time with our families. During the long days indoors we might have to get creative when it comes to entertainment for the younger members of the clan. With that in mind, here is a list of fantastic podcasts for you to discover along with the little ones. Click the links or find them on your favourite podcast platform. Be sure to leave a comment with your favourites as well as recommendations for others!

  1. The Past and The Curious

A wonderful podcast about history and so much more! Created by Mick Sullivan and friends they also do another great one called The Meatshower. You can find all the info here.

2. Stories Podcast

Stories Podcast needs no introduction. A mainstay of any parent’s playlist. If you haven’t heard them yet… why not!? Find them here and enjoy the brilliant characterisation and stand alone stories.

3. Noodle Loaf

I LOOOOOVE Noodle Loaf. It’s fun, it’s interactive and it’s a perfect companion to a car ride or indoor musical activity day! Seriously, have a listen and remember to join in! Find it here.

4. Eat Your Spanish

This one first caught my eye because the name is so fantastic. I then had a listen and within 30 seconds I’d learned some new spanish words! And I speak pretty good Spanish already… Have a listen and learn a new language! Find it here.

5. Unspookable

UNSPOOKABLE! Oh my goodness. It’s so great. I’m a big horror fan so this one is close to my heart. It’s not horror stories but rather its a teaching podcast about the various scary things that make up the horror world. Ever wanted to know where the vampire myth came from? What about witches? Are they real? If you want to learn these fascinating facts then look no further. The music is great, the interviews with kids are great and it’s definitely not (too) scary! Find it and love it here.

6. What If World

Going back to stories, this is a great one for teaching kids the ease and value of quick creativity. It’s an improvised story podcast that starts with a simple question: What if…? It’s funny and fun! You can find it here.

7. The Music Box

This is a beautiful podcast that teaches everyone about music! It’s calming, interactive and features a classroom feel with a fun atmosphere. If you value music as much as I do, this is one for you! Find it here.

8. Aaron’s World

It’s a story about science!! Perfect. There are 50 episodes and I recommend starting from the beginning. It’s about dinosaurs so it’s perfect for any kids who (like me) are currently in their “dino-phase”. I personally never left the dino phase and so appreciate podcasts like this who mix fact and fiction to keep my dino craves at bay! Find it here.

9. The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel

This is an incredible feat of recording, storytelling and performing. It’s all wrapped up now so you can dive into episode 1 with a whole adventure ahead of you. Enjoy! Find it here.

10. Story Pirates

The brilliance that is Story Pirates. Last, but CERTAINLY NOT least. It’s stories written by kids and performed by comedians. It’s well produced, fast, funny and has some really great music. Enjoy it here.

11. Circle Round

Circle Round is another lovely and excellently produced story podcast. It focuses on folktales which it sources from around the world. It’s got some impressive guests and some excellent narrators. Definitely one for your family if, like me, you love learning from a variety of cultures. Find it here.
